that it genuinely restored our faith in humankind.

It started off like an absurd precaution. Anthony Greco and I were originally pondering about our foreseeable future. As we were sitting in my home discussing college graduation the thought that we should walk coast to coast across the Usa sprang right into our minds. We really can't target the origin of the concept but we just went with it. Rather than sliding straight to oblivion similar to most weightless thought processes, this one had limbs. A switch flipped and we transformed the idea into a reality. 90 days later subsequent to minor groundwork and possibly even a lesser amount of training, we flew to San Diego, California, and planned on trekking 3,000 miles back into Nutley, NJ. This marathon would be endured by just us two us as we decided to not have any trail automobile or assistance of any sort. Even if many people thought we were definitely crazy we weren't simply walking for the enjoyment of it. Before we left, we were start up a fundraiser and amassed $75,000 in donations during the voyage, that we divided and gave to the three charities of our choosing that included Gail's Angels, Derek's Dreams, and St. Jude's Children's Hospital. These donations ultimately gave support to those suffering from breast cancer, autism, Ataxia-telangiectasia, pediatric cancers, and many other illnesses.

The complete walk took four months. It was much more struggling than either of us could have envisioned. Before we left We had thought of things that would definitely be troublesome , however, it's tough to grasp the depths of each one until you are actually living it. Since our average trekking day was between twenty to thirty miles every day we knew there would be feeling of boredom. Your thoughts are constantly running and when you don't have anything else to do but walk it can be extremely tough. We also realized it was going to be very hot but it is not unless you walk during the hottest summer on record with conditions reaching in excess of a hundred and twenty degrees that you know exactly how hot, hot really is. Every now and then our socks became so condensed with sweat it felt like we had been stepping in puddles. We suspected it was going to be agonizing but following the very first day, within the initial 3 hours of walking the uneasy rubbing started. By the end of the day we had to pop and handle sore spots on our heels, toes, and in between each one as well. The blisters had been so awful that we were forced to walk various different ways, which generated many joint problems including ankles, knees, and hips.

However, the amazing matter we did not count on was the truly great aid we obtained from family, friends, and complete strangers. It felt as if our whole town of Nutley, New Jersey, was supporting us. In addition our families were continually checking on us and even flew out a few times to give us moral support. But truthfully, the biggest surprise was the help we got from total strangers. Whether it was an individual pulling over to the side of the road to hand us ten dollars or a woman inviting us in during a rainstorm to keep us dry and give us some coffee. We couldn't thank these individuals enough who gave us so much that it genuinely restored our faith in humankind.

Of course we had an experience we are going to always remember. The many trials and difficulties were totally worth the energy and we could not be more happy with our decision to walk across the country. The culmination of our final day where over 1,500 people joined to indicate their support will go down as one of the greatest days of our lifetimes. We'd successfully finished the coast to coast walk and became better people for it. In addition to the accomplishment, to accomplish it for some great causes and really making a change was the ultimate reward.
